Port Douglas is the ideal base for exploring the Daintree. Located around one hour north of Cairns, it’s significantly closer to the rainforest — meaning less driving and more time immersed in nature.
All of our tours depart from Port Douglas and nearby accommodation.
We do not offer pick-ups from Cairns, and many guests choose to stay in Port Douglas specifically for its proximity to the Daintree and relaxed coastal atmosphere.

An amazing day in all regards. From the moment we were picked up at the hotel we were transported into the incredible experience that is the Daintree. Our guide, Daniel was superb. An amazing 1/2 day adventure with Daniel (tour guide) to Daintree river crocodile tour & then to the stunning Mossman Gorge for a swim. Interesting & entertaining commentary throughout. Highlight was seeing many real crocs in their natural habitat & the very funny boat captain Ray. So pleased we swam in the Gorge, what an experience!
