Daintree Discovery Tours offers a tour unparalleled in the area. Our main aim is “not only to show you the rainforest, but to also help you understand how this amazing eco system works!” To do this we only cater for small groups of 8 maximum and take you to areas away from the masses.
Your day starts at around 7:45am in the morning, (if staying in Port Douglas). Your guide then takes you onwards to the Daintree River, passing through cane fields and the Township of Mossman along the way. We then reach the Daintree River, which you can only cross by vehicle ferry. On the other side “the transformation is amazing for the first time visitor”, you have now entered the Daintree National Park area. We continue up to the Alexandra Lookout, where you will see some magnificent views. Here you can see where the Daintree River enters the Coral Sea, and maybe get a glimpse of the very elusive & rare Bennets Tree Kangaroo. We then continue northwards to Cape Tribulation, where the adventure begins....
“Imagine sitting on a secluded beach over-looking the Coral Sea & Cape Tribulation having morning tea”. What a great start to the day. Then if you like why not try the more adventurous option of “Sea Kayaking” up to the Cape Tribulation headland & “view this famous area as Captain Cook did many years ago”. Lookout for turtle’s popping up to say hello or bump into the elusive dugong that inhabits these waters. Or if this is not your thing, then a relaxing beach walk will be the way to go, while listening to your guide talk about the history of the area. Or you may choose to go for a swim during the non-stinger season, or just sit & relax soaking up the atmosphere on a tropical beach.

From here it is off to Cooper Creek Wilderness and the “best piece of rainforest that the area has to offer”. World Heritage listed & private! This property is locally owned by the Hewitt's who have dedicated their life to protecting this wonderful piece of Rainforest. “This is where time has stood still; walk through old growth rainforest on natural trails, “no boardwalks”. See no other people along the way, except maybe a “modern day dinosaur the Cassowary”, Boyd’s Forrest Dragon or maybe the cries of the Orange Footed Scrub Fowl”. “You just never know what you may see”.
Lunch under the rainforest canopy on a large Mahogany Table. Consisting of Roast Chicken, mescalin salad, pastrami, salami, olives, fetta cheese & freshly baked bread rolls. Served with this sumptuous lunch, you have condiments, all with a slight bush tucker flavour, lemon-myrtle dressing, fruit chutney with use of bush tomatoes & bush pepper. Ample time is allowed for a dip in the “tranquil blue waters of Cooper Ck.”
Your next stop off is The Daintree Ice Cream Company. “Yes we have ice-cream up in the middle of nowhere, however it is not just any normal ice cream, this ice-cream is made from the exotic fruit in their orchard that is in season”. “You could be having mamey-sapote, coconut, mango or even wattle seed”. “Something to tantalise the taste buds”!
Last but not least you must not miss a cruise on the “Mighty Daintree River with Solar Whisper”, an Eco friendly electric boat that is noiseless, & emits no fuel emissions, which enables your river guide to sneak up on crocs, birds, snakes & whatever else his eagle eyes may find. This boat is also specially equipped with what we call “croc-cam”. A video camera & monitor is mounted on board, so they can zoom in on the wildlife & bring your crocodile up nice and close on the screen. What a way to end a perfect day, silently drifting looking at all creatures’ great & small....
